Project 6 - Angela Brooks

From looking at my Project 6, which I've titled "Dinner of a College Student," nobody could tell what my material was. This was my intention. My inspiration behind this performance piece was what I eat about 4 times a week: Taco Bell. I wanted to do something that I come into contact with frequently and Taco Bell immediately came to mind. I roughly made a set of instructions and followed some parameters when making this piece. My process was to order 2 hard shell tacos everyday for about 10 days and I got different sauce each day. This is not my normal order but I thought that the taco would be the best option for what I was going to perform because the sauce can easily drip out of a hard shell. I had never tried the other sauces before and for some reason I thought they would be different colors but it turns out that they are different textures because some have peppers (?) in them to make them spicier. What I found is that the Hot and Fire sauces are really chunky and the Diablo is extremely thick. This all worked to my advantage though even if I didn't think about having different textures originally.

After I got my order I went home and set my Bristol board on my counter beneath me, where I was eating. I slathered my tacos in the sauce that I picked for that day. I mostly let the sauce drip where it wanted but in the end I did manipulate the board so it dripped where I liked. Instead of my original idea where I would wipe the sauce off the board I thought of just tilting it to once side and letting it drip down the board, this idea seemed more disgusting which was what I wanted to capture.

Instructions:
1. Order 2 hard shell tacos
2. Pick a different sauce each day
3. Let the sauce drip onto the bristol board
4. Once your meal is complete, tip the board to one side and let the sauce slide down
5. repeat the process everyday for 10 days or until the board is covered in sauce (choose a different sauce each day)
